ABOUT THE ROLE
The Regional District of Nanaimo is seeking a permanent full-time Aquatic Team Leader with Recreation Services, based at Ravensong Aquatic Centre in Qualicum Beach. 

The successful candidate will assist in the creation, planning, organization, implementation and evaluation of aquatic programs and special events. Specific duties include teaching aquatic programs (i.e. Aquafit), supporting office staff, performing and supervising custodial and operational tasks, including maintenance of pool water quality, as well as playing a key role in the Aquatic Centre’s Safety Program and Emergency Response Program.

QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications for the position include high school graduation with 1 to 3 years of pool/aquatic related experience, including supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. The incumbent must possess and maintain the following certifications:

• National Lifeguard (Pool Option)
• Lifesaving Society (Swim for Life) Instructor Certification
• Lifesaving Instructor/Examiner
• CPR Certification - Basic Level - Basic Rescuer or CPR “C”
• Pool Operators Certificate Level I
• Recognized First Aid Certificate/WCB Equivalency 

POSITION DETAILS
This is a permanent full-time (40 hours per week) Union position with varied hours of work including evenings and weekends. The (2026) rate of pay is $38.55 to $40.58. ABOUT THE ROLE
The Regional District of Nanaimo is seeking two permanent part-time Lifeguard/Instructor Level 2 positions with Aquatic Services. 

The Lifeguard/Instructor contributes to the effective operation of the District 69 Recreation Department through the provision of aquatic program services and the operation of the Ravensong Aquatic Centre. This position supports the Recreation Department by assisting team members in their duties, as required, to meet service expectations, departmental goals and objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications include high school graduation, with one (1) to three (3) years of pool/aquatic related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Applicants must possess and maintain the following certifications: 

• National Lifeguard Award (Pool Option)

ABOUT THE ROLE
The Regional District of Nanaimo is seeking casual Recreation Receptionists to join Recreation Services. This is a public facing position focused on assisting the public in accessing recreation programs, facilities, events, and services. This position is required to work at both the Ravensong Aquatic Centre in Qualicum Beach and Oceanside Place Arena in Parksville.

QUALIFICATIONS
Grade 12 diploma or equivalent, plus 6 months to 1 year of post-secondary education in office administration, computer business systems, or accounting, and 6 to 12 months of prior job-related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Keyboarding, word processing, switchboard, and basic office equipment experience are required. Current First Aid Certification, Level 1, is a requirement.

POSITION DETAILS
This is a casual Union Position with varied hours of work including evenings and weekends. The (2026) rate of pay is $34.46 to $36.27 per hour, plus 10.77% in lieu of benefits including vacation and statutory holidays.

The Regional District of Nanaimo has an employment opportunity for a Casual Lifeguard/Instructor Level II at the Ravensong Aquatic Centre in Qualicum Beach.

The successful candidate will assist in the creation, planning, organization, implementation and evaluation of aquatic programs and special events. Duties include leading and instructing a variety water-based exercise classes (i.e., Aquafit), enforcing pool rules and pool safety for the public, routine preventative maintenance and safety checks, implementation of the facility’s emergency response program, providing first aid services and supporting office staff.

QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications include high school graduation, with one (1) to three (3) years of pool/aquatic related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Applicants must possess and maintain the following certifications: 

• National Lifeguard Award (Pool Option)
• Lifesaving Society (Swim for Life) Instructor Certification
