Emergency Alert - Mt. Hayes Wildfire Update - Aug 20 Evening

B.C. Wildfire Service has reported minimal growth of the Mt. Hayes Fire today. Their crews are continuing to work overnight.

The Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN) issued a joint Evacuation Alert earlier today with the Cowichan Valley Regional District.

The RDN had a Call Centre open Friday, August 20 until 5:00 p.m. to answer questions at 250-390-0940. The Call Centre will re-open on Saturday, August 21 and Sunday, August 22 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. We will continue to monitor the situation after hours and provide any updates on Saturday or if the situation evolves before then.
