The Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN) advises that a Public Hearing is not being held for proposed “Regional District of Nanaimo Zoning Amendment Bylaw No. 2500.02, 2026” (Bylaw 2500.02). A Public Hearing is not being held as an Official Community Plan applies to the area that is subject to Bylaw 2500.02 and the RDN Board considers Bylaw 2500.02 to be consistent with “Regional District of Nanaimo Electoral Area ‘A’ Official Community Plan Bylaw No. 1620, 2011”.
The purpose of Bylaw 2500.02 is to address inconsistencies created with the cancellation of Land Use Contract (LUC) Nos. 96 and 98 in 2024: removing all references to LUCs in Bylaw 2500; rezone Lots 1-4 on Timberland Road from RS6 (manufactured home park) to RS2 (single dwelling residential); add commercial and service uses to Lot 5 on Timberland Road; and rezone a portion of Lot 1 on Yellow Point Road to permit neighbourhood pub use.
