Notice of First Reading Amendment Bylaw No. 2500.14

The Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN) Advises that a Public Hearing is not being held for proposed "Regional District of Nanaimo Zoning Amendment Bylaw No. 2500.14, 2026" (Bylaw 2500.14). A public hearing is not being held as Official Community Plans (OCP) apply to the electoral areas subject to Bylaw 2500.14 (A, C, E, G and H) and the RDN Board considers Bylaw 2500.14 to be consistent with the applicable OCPs. In general terms, the purpose of the bylaw is to amend the RR2 zone to specify that no parcel having an area less than the applicable subdivision district may be created including a lot created by deposit of a strata plan under the Strata Property Act, excluding bare land strata lots. The bylaw does not propose any changes to the number of dwelling units permitted on a parcel zoned RR2 of the minimum parcel size for the purpose of subdivision.

The RDN intends to consider first reading of Bylaw 2500.14 at its regular Board meeting to be held Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at 1 p.m.
