The Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN) Advises that a Public Hearing is not being held for proposed "Regional District of Nanaimo Zoning Bylaw 2500.15, 2026" (Bylaw 2500.15). A public hearing is not being held as Official Community Plans (OCP) apply to the electoral areas subject to Bylaw 2500.15 (A, C, E, G and H) and the RDN Board considers Bylaw 2500.15 to be consistent with the applicable OCPs. In general terms, the purpose of the bylaw is to amend Bylaw 2500 to update the definition of 'Floor area'; permit home-based businesses in accessory buildings within the Rural Residential 1 and 2 Zones; create a 60-meter buffer zone for Eagle or Heron nesting trees; and correct administrative errors.
The RDN intends to consider first reading of Bylaw 2500.15 at its regular Board meeting to be held Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at 1 p.m.
