July 8 Update: The RDN is working with our bank to reverse the second transactions that were done in error for utility bill customers who are signed up for preauthorized payments. We have been advised that affected customers should start to see the reversal transactions in their accounts today and up to Monday of next week depending on how quickly their own bank is able to respond.
July 7: The Regional District of Nanaimo has been made aware of some preauthorized payments for utility billing being debited twice from residents’ accounts due to a bank system error. We are working with our bank to reverse the error as quickly as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience while we work through this issue.
