The Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN) is pleased to announce the arrival of a new fire truck for the Bow Horn Bay Fire Department (BHBFD). The Fort Garry fire truck is a frontline fire truck that represents a substantial investment in community safety and protection. The approximate cost of $745,000 is funded by $270,000 from reserves and up to $475,000 from short-term borrowing. The fire truck is specially designed to meet the unique challenges of rural firefighting in the community. The truck provides the firefighters with a purpose-designed layout along with a 4X4 drivetrain, enabling them to better respond to a variety of emergency and non-emergency incidents in the community, particularly in less-than-ideal conditions.
