The Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN) Board elected a chair and vice-chair at the board meeting on November 4, 2025. Director Stuart McLean was elected Chair of the RDN Board by acclamation and Director Lauren Melanson was elected Vice-Chair. Provincial legislation requires regional districts to annually elect a chair and a vice-chair at the first meeting of the Board after November 1. Stuart McLean takes on his first term as Chair after serving for two years as Vice-Chair and will lead all board meetings. Lauren Melanson takes on her first term as Vice-Chair and will fulfill the role of Chair when Chair McLean is unavailable. The chair and vice-chair positions are held for a one-year term.
