Bylaw and Policy Update

The Bylaw and Policy Updates Project was completed with the adoption of zoning amendment Bylaws 500.402, 2016 and 1285.26, 2016 on June 28, 2016. The Bylaw and Policy Updates Project was one of the projects identified in the 2014-2016 Agricultural Area Plan Implementation Action Plan. The completion of this project marked a significant milestone in the Implementation of the Agricultural Area Plan.

The primary objectives of this project were to review the existing RDN Regional Growth Strategy (RGS), Official Community Plans (OCPs), and regulatory bylaws to:

1. ensure consistency between policies and regulations;
2. remove regulatory barriers and obstacles that hinder agriculture and aquaculture;
3. promote sustainable practices that support agricultural production and preserve farm land; and,
4. protect against the impacts of non-farm use.
