2026 General Local Elections - Voters Living on First Nations Reserve Land

Nanaimo’s municipal boundary was extended to include Snuneymuxw First Nation reserves IRs 1, 2, 3 and 4 effective July 17, 2026. With this change, residents of Snuneymuxw First Nation who live on these reserves are now eligible to vote for the City of Nanaimo’s Mayor and Council, provided they meet the other requirements for voter eligibility.
