Scrutineer Information - French Creek School and Parkland Purchase Referendum
Eligible electors in Electoral Area F of the Regional District of Nanaimo can apply to act as scrutineers in the Referendum during the period of 8:30 a.m., Monday, September 22, 2025 to 4:30 p.m., Friday, October 3, 2025. The volunteer positions are available for the following proceedings: advance voting day place on October 15 and October 22, 2025; voting place on General Voting Day, October 25, 2025; the determination of official results; and for a judicial recount (if necessary). A maximum of two scrutineers - one in favour of, and one opposed to, the question will be appointed for each proceeding. If sufficient applications are received, one scrutineer for and one scrutineer against the question will be appointed for the voting place.
Eligible electors in Electoral Area F will be voting on the following question:
“Are you in favour of the Regional District of Nanaimo adopting “Electoral Area 'F' Community Parks and Halls Local Service Property Purchase Loan Authorization Bylaw No. 1929, 2025”, which will authorize the Regional District of Nanaimo to borrow up to eight hundred and twenty-four thousand dollars ($824,000), plus interest, repayable over a period of no more than ten (10) years, to finance the purchase of a 3.7 hectare (9.15 acre) property located at 2350 Alberni Highway, Coombs, (known as French Creek School) for use by the Electoral Area 'F' Community Parks and Halls Local Service?”
Applications to act as a scrutineer(Available September 17, 2025) will be received by the Chief Election Officer at the Regional District of Nanaimo Administration Office, 6300 Hammond Bay Road, Nanaimo, BC V9T 6N2 or by email at vote [at] rdn.bc.ca (vote[at]rdn[dot]bc[dot]ca) during the period of 8:30 a.m., Monday, September 22, 2025 to 4:30 p.m., Friday, October 3, 2025. Applications will be received during regular office days and hours during this period: Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., excluding statutory holidays.
