New Chair Elected

RDN Board elects Chair Ian Thorpe and Vice-Chair Vanessa Craig for New One-Year Term

The RDN Board elected a Chair and Vice-Chair at the inaugural meeting of the Board on November 12, 2019. Provincial legislation requires regional districts annually elect a Chair and a Vice-Chair at the first meeting of the Board after November 1. Chair, Ian Thorpe, was re-elected as the head and chief executive officer of the RDN and will chair all board meetings. The Vice-Chair, Vanessa Craig, is responsible for fulfilling the role of the Chair when the Chair is unavailable.

The Board, comprised of 19 elected officials representing four municipalities and 7 electoral areas, elected their Chair and Vice Chair by ballot, and the positions will be held for a one-year term.

"It is an honour to be elected by my colleagues to lead the RDN Board in making careful and forward-thinking decisions that reflect the priorities and concerns of the region’s residents,” said Chair Thorpe. “It will be our continued mission to sustain the provision of quality services to our growing and diverse population.”
