CPR Regional Trail Closure

UPDATE: JUNE 22, 2023Although Highway 4 through Cameron Lake will soon be re-opening to single-lane alternating traffic, Arrowsmith CPR Regional Trail will remain closed to reduce traffic congestion and to help keep the critical travel corridor open and flowing.


B.C. Wildfire Service has reported a wildfire within the Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN) at the Cameron Lake Bluffs, in Electoral Area F. As a precaution, the RDN has closed the CPR Regional Trail due to the wildfire. For your safety, please do not use this trail until such time as the closure has been lifted and obey all signage near the park and trail.

The Cameron Bluffs Fire (V70600) is 20 hectares in size. As of June 5, the wildfire status is listed as out of control. BC Wildfire Service crews worked on direct attack objectives overnight. The fire is in steep terrain, two helicopters are bucketing (dropping water on) inaccessible areas. Drivers should be advised that fire operations are underway west of Highway 4 near Cameron Lake. At this time no structures or critical infrastructure at risk and traffic is not interrupted on Highway 4.
