The Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN) would like to advise the public effective February 22, 2019, the Agricultural Land Commission Act (ALCA) has been amended and the Agricultural Land Reserve Use Regulation was created. Building permit applications for new construction of an additional residence that is for a manufactured home in the Agricultural Land Reserve (ALR) needs to be received by close of business on Friday, November 15, 2019. This is to ensure that a building permit is issued before February 22, 2020 in accordance with the new ALR Use Regulation. The RDN is unable to guarantee permit applications received after November 15, 2019 will be processed in time to meet the ALR deadline.
