New Oceanside Services Committee

The Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN) Board of Directors has consolidated three of its committees into one new committee called the Oceanside Services Committee (OSC) per a Board resolution passed on April 23, 2019. The first meeting of the OSC will be held at 1:30 pm on May 16, 2019 in the Council Chambers of the Town of Qualicum Beach. The meetings will also be live-streamed and can be viewed via the RDN website at www.rdn.bc.ca/oceanside-services-committee.

The consolidation will add efficiency and improve communication to residents. The OSC has representation from the same entities except School District 69. Under the new structure, School District 69 will be welcome to attend the OSC meetings to provide input.

The OSC will be a more effective system of administration of committees for the RDN, as well as provide a forum for elected officials and the public to discuss and have input on services jointly shared by the six participating communities which are Electoral Areas E, F, G and H as well as the Town of Qualicum Beach and the City of Parksville.

The RDN Board extends its sincere thanks to all past volunteer committee board members for their timeand contributions. The OSC will welcome input from all external stakeholders at its meetings, and School District 69 is welcome to continue to send representatives to the OSC meetings. Delegations and presentations from the community will also be welcome to promote involvement, correspondence will be accepted and the agenda and minutes will be on the RDN website.
