Construction Noise During Treatment System Upgrade

Noise Bylaw Exemption Thursday, April 04, 2019 for North America Construction (1993) Ltd.

{NAC} is constructing the Secondary Treatment Upgrade Project for the Regional District of Nanaimo's Greater Nanaimo Pollution Control Centre at 4500 Hammond Bay Road. Scheduled Activites require bypass pumping of main sewage channel into the plant.

The City of Nanaimo has granted NAC a Noise Bylaw exemption to complete raw sewage channel aeration and cleaning from 4:00AM to 12:00PM for the above dates for Bypass pumping, Neighbouring residents may notice noise and light during this time

We foresee this work to be minimal and not take up the entire period we are requesting. Construction work will involve the use of 6" diesel bypass pump, hydrovac truck, concrete saw, telehandler, generators, light towers, and small tools etc. We anticipate the bulk of the noise be between 6:00AM to 9:00AM.

While we may have requested future Noise Bylaw Exemptions, we will make efforts to keep the construction activities within the regular construction hours. Estimated work duration is 6hrs, but given unforeseen circumstances we may request a longer duration to complete the critical works.
